Rat Problems

Are Rats causing damage to your home or business?

Rats can come in all levels of infestations, from a casual intruder to a more developed and deep-seated infestation within your building.

Rats are extremely efficient climbers where they can be heard in wall cavities and beneath floorboards in buildings and can often be found nesting in roof spaces and upper floors.

The first signs of a rat infestation are often their droppings, which are approximately 20mm (3/4”) long. Other signs of rat activity can be damaged food items, cartons, bags etc.

Rats pose a risk to health by eating and contaminating foods intended for human consumption and can spread extremely harmful diseases including Leptospirosis or Weil’s disease, Salmonella, Listeria, Toxoplasma and Hantavirus.

As a property owner and to be compliant with the Damage by Pests Act 1949 you are obliged to ensure that all necessary measures are being taken for a rodent-free environment.

If you are affected and regular baiting with rodenticide or trapping is not resolving the infestation it is highly likely that you may have a break in your drainage that is allowing rats to leave the drainage system and access your building.
